Preschool Choir

  • Director: Carolyn Grimes
  • Helper: Betty Tatum

  • Preschool Choir is comprised of 4 and 5 year olds who meet every Sunday evening from 5:00 - 6:00 PM on the 2nd floor of the Education Building. Preschool Choir is not a performance choir but the children do sing in special services at Christmas time and again in the Spring at the end of the choir year. Preschool Choir introduces the children to all aspects of music and includes activities that involve listening, moving, singing, using rhythm instruments and beginning theory. The activities are geared to their attention span and their need to be active. The leaders do everything with the children and must be active, too! For a glimpse into what really goes on in Preschool Choir, we invite you to take a look at our pictures displayed on the bulletin board in our choir room.

    Younger Children's Choir

  • Director: Sharon Odom
  • Helpers: Penny Popwell, Ben Shell

  • The Younger Children's choir, aka Music Makers Choir, is comprised of children in grades 1-3 and meets at 5 pm on Sunday evening on the 2nd floor of the Education Building. Our primary goal is to teach spiritual concepts through music. In this choir, we concentrate on helping each child develop a singing voice, a sense of steady beat, and fundamental music reading skills. These concepts are taught through music games, movement, and the use of a variety of instruments. Large and small group activities are planned as well as activities that give each child individual attention. While not a performing group, we do share our music with the church on Children's Sabbath, Christmas, and Choir Recognition Night. Every two to three years we present a musical and/or plan a worship service to share with our church family.
