Looking Ahead: The Journey Is Our Home

On January 24th, at our quarterly Business Meeting, our church elected the Pastor Search Committee. It is an exciting time as we realize that, after months of waiting, that the search process will now begin. These twelve individuals are Pooie Cantrell, Oyette Chambliss, Alison Crosby, Lavaughn Johnson, Mike McClanahan, Chad Parish, Kelly Meeks, Andrew Smith, Meagan Smith, Cathy Summers, Charlotte Sutton, and Mark Wilson. Please notice the diversity of ages and that there are six men and six women on this Search Committee.

[/pullquote_right]At the conclusion of our worship on Sunday, February 3rd, we will have a time when we commission this newly-elected Search Committee for the task we have asked them to perform. At that time, we will ask them to pledge that they will strive to work for the well-being of our church and that they will work in a spirit of integrity, diligence, and loving collaboration. We, as a church, will also pledge our full support in the ways we are able. It should be a wonderful time of worship and celebration as we begin this journey and new chapter in the life and ministry of Auburn First Baptist Church.

Your support for the Search Committee need not wait until the Commissioning Service. It can began immediately by keeping these twelve individuals in your thoughts and prayers. It can begin immediately by sharing with these elected that you will be supporting them in every way possible and that you do appreciate the tremendous sacrifice of time and energy they will be giving to our Pastor Selection Process. The church office has already received several resumes and this is without any solicitation by our church. It speaks to the esteem in which our church is held by those who know us and know of us. We indeed are a church on a journey, a journey of 175 years, striving to live-out our faith calling in this community. (Read our Missions Statement!) It is a church of dedicated, loving, and committed folks on a spiritual journey together. How exciting it will be to see where our journey leads us next.
