Looking Ahead…

Just in case you have been out of town for several weeks and have not kept up with events here at Auburn First Baptist, there is a lot happening! We are excited that our Pastor Search Committee is not only in place and have elected their co-chairs—Pooie Cantrell and Mark Wilson—but they have diligently begun their work. You will read elsewhere of their desire to receive input from you! As mentioned Sunday, let us all covenant to keep these individuals, the committee as a whole, and their work continually in our thoughts and prayers. Another Committee that is hard at work is our 175 the Anniversary Committee, chaired by Chad Parish. We have already begun enjoying and learning from the short historical essays written for this celebration by Wayne Flynt. Few churches have such a rich heritage. Looking back, yet looking ahead… a truly exciting time for us.

When we look to the future of our church, we also think about our youth… the church leaders of tomorrow. How fortunate we are to have such a fine group of young people here at First Baptist. Our Youth Intern, Meagan Smith does a wonderful job working with our youth. On Sunday, March 3rd, they will lead us in worship on our annual Youth Sunday. I know you will make an extra effort to be present and show you support to these leaders of tomorrow.

Finally, a personal request. When you know of church members who are in the hospital or expect to go to the hospital, please contact the church office. Sometimes you might believe we already know… when in reality, we don’t. We would rather receive multiple emails and calls, than miss someone. Our Sunday School classes are well known for the ministry they give to class members in need.

Our goal is for every church member to know of Christ’s love and concern as demonstrated by our Family of Faith… Auburn First Baptist.
