Auburn First Baptist Church has a long history of caring for and supporting college students in their journeys of life and faith. Each semester we welcome students into the life of our church as they join us for worship and other activities. Church members prepare dinner every Tuesday night for our college ministry. Our church family invites students to serve alongside in Vacation Bible School, committee work, and missions. We are enriched by the presence of our students as they share who they are with us. At the same time, we enrich their lives by sharing who we are with them.
On April 8, our students will lead us in worship for College Sunday. We look forward to their leading and sharing with us on that day, knowing that they are spending much time and effort in preparation. What a unique opportunity our students have to participate in a church that values their voices and leadership in ministry. We are grateful for their gifts, abilities, and willingness to serve and lead.
Our College Committee, on behalf of our church, is dedicated to continuing to support college students in ever changing and expanding ways. One of those ways is by celebrating the work of the Campus Kitchens Project. This student organization has a chapter on Auburn University’s campus. They work to meet hunger needs in our community by repurposing food from dining halls on campus and delivering it to those in need. They deliver food to The Community Market, EASE House, and other places.
On Monday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m., we will host a potluck dinner to celebrate the work of Campus Kitchens. We will welcome the leadership team and some of their campus liaisons for dinner, learning more about the important work they do on campus and in the community. Please make plans to join us in the Fellowship Hall that evening and bring a dish to share.
Thank you for being a welcoming and supportive church family and for providing a place where college students can grow and practice their faith in meaningful ways.
