One of the important things we do each year in September is recommend names to the Deacon Nominating Committee. Our Deacons provide leadership to the congregation as we make decisions, serve others, and join together in ministry. We are thankful for our Deacons!
First, the Deacon Nominating Committee receives recommendations from the congregation during a two-week window in September. Second, the committee recommends 7 church members from this list of names to serve as Deacons, which is presented to the congregation for a vote.
From September 1-18, the congregation is invited to recommend 7 names to the Deacon Nominating Committee by emailing Kristina Hickman, kristina@auburnfbc.org.
To serve as a Deacon, the criteria are:
- A church member for the recent 36 months,
- 21 years old,
- Not served as a Deacon in the past 3 years,
- Cannot serve concurrently with one’s spouse,
- Have regular attendance, shown leadership, and supported the church.
Each church member can email up to 7 names to kristina@auburnfbc.org for the Deacon Nominating Committee. We encourage you to email recommendations because it is essential for the committee’s work!
If you would like to remove your name from consideration, you can email this request to Kristina as well. In the past, we have nominated regular Deacons and Life Deacons, which were Deacons over the age of 70; but last year, the congregation decided to simply nominate 7 Deacons regardless of age.
