Deacons and Committees

One of the hallmarks of Auburn First Baptist Church is the gift of its lay leadership! Church members, who serve as Sunday School Teachers, Choir Directors, and Adult Education leaders, along with Deacons and committee members, are making decisions, leading programs, and guiding the church’s ministry. We are thankful for this leadership!

We should never underestimate the value of lay leadership because it fosters community, cultivates trust, and encourages kindness. As we work together, we learn a great deal about the character of love, commitment, and hope. It is difficult to explain these benefits, but we can experience them! It is the truth found in the African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

During this time of year, the Deacon Nominating Committee and the Committee on Committees needs the help of the congregation. Beginning September 1, church members can submit recommendations to the Deacon Nominating Committee, which the committee will use to make nominations for new Deacons. The committee is unable to do its work without the recommendations of the congregation. Everyone can fill out a form outside the church office, or you can email recommendations to kristina@auburnfbc.org.

In addition to the Deacon Nominating Committee, the Committee on Committees has provided forms, listing all of the committees in the church. The forms are located outside the church office. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please fill out a form. There is a box outside the church office, where those forms can be submitted.

Names and forms for the Deacon Nominating Committee and the Committee on Committee can be filled out between now and September 16.

We are thankful for the lay leadership of the congregation and all the ways we benefit from it!
