Celebrations and Seasons

We mark our lives by celebrations and seasons, and in the coming weeks, we will participate in both.  On Sunday, February 23, we will celebrate College Sunday.  Our college students will lead us in worship.  They will offer prayers, provide leadership, and share a sermon.

We are thankful for our college students during this season of their lives.  We hope to provide support and encouragement as they learn and grow in their faith.  We give thanks for all they add to our family of faith.  We look forward to this time of worship as we give thanks for their leadership among us!

Shortly after College Sunday, we will enter the season of Lent.  Our college students will host our Pancake Supper on Tuesday, March 4, or Fat Tuesday, which is the precursor to Lent.  It is the feast before the fast!

We will then gather on Ash Wednesday, March 5 for the imposition of ashes.  Lent is a season marked by reflection and repentance.  They are both life-giving practices, but they take commitment and courage.  We find this commitment and courage by practicing them together!

During the season of Lent, we will gather each Wednesday beginning Ash Wednesday, March 5 at 12:00 p.m. in the Coleman Fellowship Hall for our Lenten Lunches.   Lunch will be $5.00, or you can bring your own.  The only Wednesday we will not meet will be March 12 because of Spring Break.   During this time, we will reflect together on the Passion of Christ.

The Passion of Christ refers to the courage and commitment of Jesus as he faced the hardship and suffering of the cross.  We will look at the events of Holy Week throughout the season of Lent, as we reflect on what they mean for the Passion of Christ, and for our lives.

We are thankful for celebrations and seasons as they shape and mark our lives in meaningful ways!
