Marking Time: Ten-Year Anniversary

Throughout the life of the church, we mark time because it is meaningful.  We mark time by gathering for worship on the Lord’s Day. We mark time by observing the seasons of the Church Year. We mark time by celebrating Christmas Eve, Easter morning, and the Day of Pentecost.

We mark time because our lives are marked by time. Our lives are marked by meaningful experiences and hopeful celebrations. We recognize birthdays, and we give thanks on anniversaries because how we spend our time matters.

It matters because of the connections and relationships, experiences and prayers, hopes and commitments, which grow out of how we spend our time.

As a congregation, we celebrate the ten-year anniversary of Laura Edgar as our Associate Pastor for Youth, College, and Young Adults, which is May 15! We are thankful for Laura and Seth and their place in our congregation.  We give thanks for Laura’s ministry and leadership and what it has meant to our youth, college students, and young adults.

On Sunday, May 18, the Personnel Committee will recognize her in worship. Laura will also preach in worship, and we will gather in the Courtyard following the worship service to mark this time and to celebrate this anniversary! It is a milestone for which we are thankful.

Marking time is more than counting the days on our calendars. They are words of appreciation and gestures of gratitude.  We will share this time of celebration with Laura and Seth. We are thankful for the good things, which have grown out of how they have spent their time with us! We will mark this time with gratitude.
