At our upcoming Business Meeting & Potluck on January 29, we will vote on the Global Ministries Offering budget for 2026-2027. We find missions in all aspects of our congregation through Sunday School classes, youth group, and the children’s ministry, but the GMO is our annual offering for missions above-and-beyond our general budget for the year.
The GMO is from February to February, so we will continue to contribute to the GMO for 2025-2026 between now and February 1. On February 8, we will begin giving to the GMO for 2026-2027.
The proposed budget for 2026-2027 includes global, regional, and local ministries supporting the vulnerable and sharing the good news of the love of God. We share this good news in a variety of ways! We support CBF field personnel around the world as well as the Baptist World Alliance, a global institution doing essential work. We will also support Eddie Aldape and his ministry in Spain as his Encourager Church.
As we give to the GMO, we will provide for CBF’s Disaster Relief, so they can respond when needed. We will also support students in seminary because their future leadership is valued by the church. We also give to the Baptist Joint Committee, which works for religious liberty for everyone. Part of the proposed budget is also for Together for Hope, a rural poverty initiative helping others all over the country.
Our local ministries in the proposed GMO provide for Sowing Seeds of Hope in Perry County, Alabama as well as the Community Market in Auburn/Opelika. We also support first generation college students in Alabama, the Esperanza House in Auburn, and Alabama Rural Ministry, making home repairs for those who cannot afford them. The proposed budget also includes Building Together, where our church builds accessible ramps for others.
The Global Ministries Offering is an opportunity to join together to serve the needs of others! We will vote on the proposed budget on January 29 and celebrate GMO Sunday on February 8.
