Before God provides an explanation of what is happening, God provides some eternal advice: Fear not, do not be afraid. But, then, in the world where we live—eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow you die—fear as warning is not fear of reassurance.
Even though the Church — wherever it is found — has fallen short of bringing people together, the Church has still inherited the Gift of Diversity.
In this world, we all know that it is hard to simply be who we are, which means that it is hard to see others as they are.
This is what happens on Pentecost, as we remember the Spirit of God blowing through the room and giving life to the Church.
